a multisensorial experience within soldout musinsa

seoul-based studio WGNB has designed the flagship store of fashion brand musinsa in seongdong-gu, south korea. the design concept is inspired by a winery including boutique and rare bottles of wine, and by the same token, ‘soldout’ serves as a showroom of the limited-edition sneakers.

the final design presents itself as a ‘shoes-nary’, generating a futuristic concept that responds to worldwide trends. within the entire interior, the architects have incorporated floating linear elements —like pendant lights and counters—, mirrors and silver surfaces to create a multisensorial experience and reveal a narrative of exploring. with the silver touches setting the overall spatial tone, pure material textures provide versatile light effects through reflection and refraction, adding an outer space-inspired look to the interior.floating linear elements and reflective surfaces form this retail store in south korea

    a futuristic concept

‘soldout’ undertaken by WGNB is a recently-established limited-edition sneakers platform brand by musinsa —the largest multi-brand online fashion store in south korea.

the entire space consists of specialized spaces, including an examination room to check the sneaker’s authenticity, a packaging room, and a showcase to store and exhibit the premium sneakers to the visitors. for the limited editions, the design team sought to form a stable and balanced platform to shine the light on the showcasing items, accentuating the concept of the ‘shoes-nary’. the light below the mirrors highlights the unique reflections enriching the narrative of the brand. floating linear elements and reflective surfaces form this retail store in south korea
