EnAnd while the wavy ceiling in the living room remained, the original fireplace had to go. “As an homage to their home state, we opted to replace the old river rocks with a more fresh and modern white Texas limestone,” Tamarra says. “We paired that with an oak mantel to match their new wood floors.
The inspiration: “We fondly nicknamed this home ‘The Treehouse,’ not only because of its tall, woodclad configuration, but [also because] of the surrounding environment,” Tamarra says. “When you are in the living room on the top story, all you can see is trees! The owners love nature, so we used beautiful earth tones and natural materials to bring the outdoors in.”

Budget: The budget was $150,000 to renovate the living room, kitchen, and guest room.

Most insane splurge: Custom Lincoln doors and windows. “Anytime you are replacing doors and windows, it is a major expense,” Tamarra says.
Sneakiest save: The fireplace veneer. “We opted to use a product from Eldorado Stone that’s made of actual rocks but comes prepared as a veneer, meaning that the backs of the stones are already cut flat and molded,” she says. “You will spend a little more on the stone itself, but you will save a lot on the installation.”
