All the Seats I’m Thinking About This Week
Welcome to the extended version of my weekly newsletter, House Call (and if you haven’t subscribed, what are you waiting for?) This is where I spend some time pondering a theme, answering a question, and helping you shop smarter—or at least find some new inspiration. Reach out if you ever need recommendations. I’m happy to search the internet for the most specific furnishings, decor, and knickknacks.
If ever there’s a time to gab about chairs, sofas, and the like, it’s during Clever’s annual Seat Week.
Last summer I lamented the fact that I have too many chairs in my house. I attempted to come up with a rule that would declare there must be a one-in, one-out policy, but for every ill-fitting or not-quite-right sofa I parted with, I still found myself with more incredible pieces of seating than there is room for. From a pair of marbled orange and yellow Milo Baughman chairs to a pink and coral plaid sofa bed, the places to sit just keep growing—and perhaps getting more fabulous. And the outcome is always the same: Rather than berate myself for these accumulations, I figured I should just celebrate them. After sitting on so many chairs, and reading about so many iconic and newfangled designs, here’s a further celebration of seats I’m loving and coveting.
