When Is Amazon Prime Day 2022? Here’s What We Know So Far About the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale
Last week, Amazon announced a second sales extravaganza for 2022–no it’s not technically another Amazon Prime Day–that they’re calling the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale. The two-day event will take place on October 11 and 12, and offer an opportunity for customers to get a leg up on the holiday shopping season. After all, why wait until Black Friday to stock up on gifts?
When is Amazon Prime Day?
While retailers tend to save their biggest sales for the period now known as Cyber Week–the blur of discounts that run from Black Friday to Cyber Monday after Thanksgiving–Amazon is planning to start things more than a month early. While it’s a bit early to tell, we anticipate that Amazon competitors will start announcing major sales events to take place around the same time. In July, we saw businesses of all shapes and sizes running discounts during Prime Day, from other major retailers like Target, Nordstrom, and Walmart to smaller businesses like Clare and Our Place. We’ll keep you posted on everything you need to know about the new Prime Day Sale and all of the competing discounts we come across.
How will the Prime Early Access Sale work?
Similar to the Prime Day event, Amazon will host a two-day sales period where they mark down many, many things. If you’re wondering how you’re supposed to keep up with said markdowns, don’t worry. We’ll be highlighting some of the best home and tech deals throughout the time span so that you can rest easy. We’ll feature some best sellers alongside hidden treasures so that you can feel super confident that you aren’t missing anything amongst the hundreds of thousands of products on the site.
In July, we saw discounts on home tech, robot vacuums, mattresses, kitchen goods, and more. There will be items you will want, items you will need, and probably even a few items that you will throw in your cart for the sake of a sale.
Do I need to be a Prime member?
First off, if you have avoided becoming an Amazon Prime member for this long, good on you—your efforts don’t go unnoticed (most especially by targeted ads, which you’re probably already well aware of). That said, you do need to have a Prime membership to participate in the biggest perks. On the plus side, this means you’ll probably get two-day shipping to accompany your heaping helping of discounts. On the down side, you might start ordering everything from movies to toilet paper to groceries to account for the $14.99 per month fee.
Upping the ante for the Early Access Sale, Prime membership will also include a Grubhub+ subscription for a year. And the last item of note, new Prime members get a 30-day free trial, so you can test out the service to see if it’s right for you without making an annual commitment.
How long is the Prime Early Access Sale?
While the sale will last two days, there are early deals thrown in for good measure (including deals that have already started) that you can peruse at https://www.amazon.com/earlyaccess. Much like the iconic sales offered by Walmart and Target in the past, Amazon will mark some things down for the duration of the event when it kicks off on October 11, whereas other items will pop up only for a few hours as lightning deals or deals of the day, which last for a limited time only.
Are things cheaper during the Prime Early Access Sale?
Oh, yeah! There are Prime deals on everything from tech to clothing. This is an especially great time to invest in household products like robot vacuums, air purifiers, instant pots, and anything else you’ve had your eye on for a while. Don’t worry, just like Black Friday, there will also be markdowns on gadgets from major brands like Apple, as well as major products like laptops and TVs. You can also bet that all of the Amazon devices will be majorly marked down. In the past, this has included the Kindle, Alexa, Echo Dot, Fire tablets, and Fire TV sticks, as well as deals on Amazon services like Prime video and Amazon music.
How can I shop the Prime Early Access Sale?
While you are more than welcome to spend two full days refreshing the Amazon home page for the best buys, you’re also welcome to follow along as we document the best sellers and hidden treasures that are touching hearts and wallets. Don’t worry, we’ll be updating them throughout the two-day span so that you will have everything you need. In the meantime, you might want to add a few of the best Amazon Prime Day 2022 deals on furniture and home goods to your wishlists.
