watch: jetson completes the world’s first ever eVTOL commute

Jetson ONE inventor Tomasz Patan flies to work

After months of trial and testing, Swedish company Jetson has conducted the first commuter flight of its Jetson ONE eVTOL. The footage, which was shared last week via social media, shows co-founder and Jetson ONE inventor Tomasz Patan flying from home to work. While exact details of the flight time and distance have yet to be revealed, the company has called it a ‘momentous occasion’ saying it reduced Patan’s commute time by an impressive 88%.

Jetson said, ‘We are incredibly proud to share that after months of rigorous trial and testing we completed the World’s first EVTOL commute!’

‘we intend to make everyone a pilot’

Founded by Peter Ternström and Tomasz Patan, Jetson first made waves in 2018 with the successful launch of its personal flying car prototype. The startup returned a few years later in 2021 with a consumer friendly version of its Jetson ONE eVTOL that you can own and fly.

The Jetson ONE has a racecar-inspired rigid aluminum spaceframe with eight powerful electric motors. The design is lightweight thanks to composite carbon fiber and cutting-edge 3D printed components and prioritizes safety with features such as a redundant propulsion system and a ballistic parachute. The eVTOL has a top flight speed of 102 km/h and can fly for 20 minutes on a single charge.

‘Our mission is to make flight available to everyone,’ explains Ternström. ‘The Jetson ONE is an electric helicopter that you can own and fly. We intend to make everyone a pilot.’
