the arosa blends marine, automotive, and aerospace designs

electric vehicle manufacturer vonmercier just launched arosa, a flashy and carbon-fitted luxury sports hovercraft that can travel over land and water thanks to an integrated air cushion system. this ‘amphibious’ ride borrows the anatomy of marine, automotive, and aerospace designs to create a cutting-edge experience.

‘the low profile body, aggressive front end, and powerful side thrust intakes make the arosa the first truly modern hovercraft design. marine features, such as side decks and an open cockpit, blend with automotive supercar inspiration to embody the versatility and function of this luxury sports hovercraft,’ says vonmercier.

according to vonmercier (see more here), the arosa is the ‘most maneuvrable personal hovercraft in the world.’ it is equipped with a patented steering control system that allows users to easily and steadily handle the wheel in all four directions (reverse, forward, left, and right).

aside from its maneuvering innovation, the hovercraft features a tandem car seating with side decks to welcome more passengers. complementing those seating options are lower hull and top decks that make it easy to access the arosa from water and a dock. finally, riders can use recessed side steps to enter or exit the vehicle on dry land.

when it comes to performance, vonmercier states: ‘a high voltage battery pack provides power to three independent electric motors of the powertrain. the motors enable fine-tuned controlled thrust and steady lift. the battery pack can apply boosts of power to the motors for quick performance in acceleration and maneuvering. the electric powertrain also greatly reduces noise and pollution levels.’

numbers-wise, the battery can last a full 90 minutes and get the arosa to travel up to 72 km before needing a recharge. and with its three aggressive motors producing a total power of 88kW, this futuristic hovercraft will take driving to new levels.
