Architecture has the power to reveal what’s hidden. The UIA – HYP ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS CUP 2025 invites students worldwide to reimagine forgotten or overlooked spaces — the nooks and crannies — as sites of transformation.

This competition is more than a design challenge; it’s an invitation to engage deeply with the spaces that surround us — to observe, interpret, and act with freedom and creativity.

Open to students only, this competition is an opportunity to share old projects or create new ones.

The topic is broad and so are the possibilities.This competition asks students to uncover, reclaim, and transform the “nooks and crannies” of our environments – tiny leftover spaces, neglected corners, and undefined gaps in the urban fabric.Look for spaces hiding in plain sight. Challenge conventions. Map relationships. Solve for reality, not utopia.This is not an abstract exercise. It’s a call for grounded, design-oriented solutions that embrace everyday life, social dynamics, and poetic possibility.Participants are free to pick a site of your choice or re-use an old project. It’s your chance to get creative!
