UHU micro-cabin on stilts rises from the ground to offer generous river views in canada
‘UHU’ tiny cabin on stilts by Repère Boréal
Nested 12 meters in the air, the UHU micro-cabin (meaning ‘owl’ in the Innu language) stands on stilts and offers a generous view of the Saint-Laurence River in Canada. Designed and built by Quebec-based Repère Boréal, the structure takes the form of an angular tiny house with a glazed façade that reveals the lush forested surroundings. The interior is accessed by an enclosed spiral staircase and a 6-meter bridge and offers all the necessary amenities such as a large bed, a heated floor, a fully equipped kitchen, and a shower that opens to the sky.

haven hidden in the treetops
According to the Repère Boréal team, the UHU cabin is designed to allow occupants to sleep in the treetops, to be lulled by the atmosphere of the boreal forest. The 100% steel structure is cantilevered (40 feet) 12 meters above the ground and is accessible via an enclosed spiral staircase and a 6-meter (20-foot) bridge. Inside the cabin, there is an entire wall of windows that follow the angle of the roof line, drawing natural light in. The glazed façade provides a unique view of the Saint-Laurence river and the natural surroundings, green in spring and snow-white in winter.
Combining design, comfort, and relaxation, the UHU tiny cabin serves as a ‘haven of peace, hidden in the treetops’. Users may take a break, refuel their batteries, and deepen their connection to nature thanks to its tranquil character and unique location.
