Two Triangles
– The architecture hides the sea like a big rock on the hill and silently invites people to venture inside. Then, like a pyramid approaching the sun, Two Triangles makes the act of ascension unfold towards the sea through the staircases. On a vertice of a triangle, the view dramatically widens toward the corresponding side of it.

I call it the ‘Triangle Space Effect.’Two Triangles is located on a small hill on the east coast in Ulsan. There is a southern view of a small fishing port and an eastern view with only the sea. Triangular spaces are stacked with two stories towards the two contrasting views, and the inner trail between areas leads to the triangular space’s vertices.

The customer cannot see the outside in the route except for skylights for light. And then, the blind movement makes people expect the following view, and the location of vertice makes the view spectacular to them. Also, I wanted the interior to be melded with the changing color of the sea over time.

This inspired the pairing for the monotone palette; exposed concrete and stainless steel. Two Triangles offers an enchanting encounter with nature through the geometric plan, ascending circulation, and a palette of monotones..
