vooc village echoes harmony with the indigenous landscape

characterized by white sand beaches and towering mountains, the famous ninh van bay in vietnam exudes a feeling of being at one with nature. nestled there is the sixsense ninh van bay resort built with sophisticated modern design and traditional vietnamese architecture.

recently, local studios chi.arch and 4S.group were commissioned to develop a kids club and playground for that same resort, called the VOOC village. keeping the local culture in mind, the architects sculpted a charming playground space using wood and many other local, natural materials that reflect harmony with the indigenous landscape.

organizing a rich mix of indoor and outdoor activities

chi.arch (see more here) and 4S. group shaped the VOOC village with a traditional wooden truss frame, coconut leaf roof, rough plastered walls, wooden floorboards, and granito for the porch and toilet area. facing the main structure is an open playground made entirely of natural wood and hosting a slide, trampoline, and swings. behind it is a climbing area simulating a forest, natural splash parks, and a zip line.

indoor games and programs are also hosted in the space; these include a ballroom, arts and crafts, yoga, and a media room. according to the architect, ‘this rich combination of games creates a continuous movement chain for the children.’ completing the VOOC village program is a planting garden, where activities on cultivation and plant knowledge are organized for the little ones
