NOK — NextOfKin — a singapore-based team of cross-disciplinary creatives has unveiled an intelligent walking companion dubbed the stride senze. the project, which takes a look at elderly care, transforms a walker or a walking crane into a smart walking companion that ensures safety and anticipates every move the users make while walking with them gracefully.
‘what if a walker could be an object of empowerment, instead of shame?’ comments NOK. ‘frail and fragile are words we tend to associate the elderlies with. the archetypal walker or walking cane is a proof of aging and only adds more stress on the elderly’s wrist and forearm when used. looking at the same object through the lens of a futurist, we’ve come up with stride senze.’
STRIDE SENZE BY NOK EMPOWERS SAFE MOBILITY FOR SENIORS
equipped with sensors and featuring a sleek design, the stride senze by NOK empowers safe mobility for seniors. it scans the surrounding and guides users around them, helping them to navigate different spaces, including those which pose more threats like bathrooms. it is also equipped with technology able to track the user’s gait and balance while monitoring any mobility problems.
it comes in two versions, the single support and the walker mode. both of them feature behavioral learning technologies and are equipped with weight support with self-balancing aids. the multi-sensor makes sure there is both fall detection and prevention and immediately alerts to social service or family.
