the porsche 911 turbo research by singer incorporates turbocharging
THE FIRST ROAD-GOING, TURBOCHARGED PORSCHE 911
known for restoring and reimagining 1989 to 1994 porsche 911s, california-based luxury brand singer presents the first road-going, turbocharged porsche 911. dubbed the turbo study, the car responds to requests made by porsche owners who want to incorporate turbocharging into their classic cars.
‘my first ever ride in a porsche 911 as an 11-year-old in 1976 left me dry-mouthed and speechless – it was a black 930 turbo with red tartan seats,’ recalls rob dickinson, founder and executive chairman, singer group inc. ‘forty-five years on from that life-changing moment I’m excited to present the results of our study that aims to capture the awesome thrill of porsche’s first ‘supercar’ while reimagining its performance and refinement and collaborating with owners to take both to new heights. I believe it’s a fitting tribute to a car that changed my life and many others.’
INSPIRED BY THE TURBO CARS OF THE MID-70S
presented in wolf blue, the porsche 911 turbo study by singer features high-performances and luxury grand touring capabilities. it starts — like with all singer’s restorations — with a porsche 911, taking the type 964. the new 3.8L engine has twin turbochargers with electric wastegate. the shark fin on the rear fender has been reimagined as an intake and works to supply cold air to the engine bay, optimizing combustion and cooling performance.
inspired by the turbocars of the mid-70s, the bespoke carbon fiber body balances the iconic DNA with cutting edge engineering. the use of carbon fiber reduces mass while sharpening dynamic responses. in response to the owner’s requests, rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive restorations are available for the turbo study.
the car’s power outputs starts at 450 HP and has the availability of turbocharged torque, allowing owners to have effortless speed-matching from alpine pass to autobahn. a higher power output is available too in case a more sporting focus is required.
the interiors respond to the demands of an all-season touring car. heated, electrically adjustable seats and cruise controls are available for comfort during cold-climate driving and for conveniences on high-speed road networks.
the porsche 911 turbo study by singer will be shown at good wood festival of speed in the UK from 23-26 june, 2022. more than 70 owners have reserved bespoke restorations enabled by the study. price is still unavailable
