The Empress Netflix: The Lavish Palace from the Show Is Coming to Airbnb

Located in Pommersfelden, Bavaria, which is in Southern Germany, the palace gets considerable airtime on the show as it is used as the residence of the main character, Empress Elizabeth. Although her life was somewhat of a mystery during the 19th-century, she was and still is a widely popular historical figure in her place of birth, according to The New York Times. The House of Schönborn is excited to give the public a chance to experience how the Empress lived.

“Empress Elizabeth, fondly nicknamed Sisi, is an all-time favorite historical figure: a sportswoman, fashion icon, traveler, poet, and tragic heroine who fell to an assassin’s blade,” says Countess Benedicta von Schönborn-Wiesentheid, host of the experience. “As she was born in Bavaria, it’s both exciting and fitting to bring this legendary woman home and share a little glimpse into her world.”

The suite up for grabs is located in the west wing of the palace and is usually reserved exclusively for the Schönborn family. Guests will receive an exclusive tour of the castle and be happily ushered into places usually closed to the public. There’ll even be a “Sisi-inspired dinner and breakfast” in the elaborately ornamented Shell Room, according to the listing.

Filmed completely in German, The Empress is a six-part series now streaming on Netflix.
