The CAA will transfer to a brand new Johnson Fain-designed tower in Century Metropolis

Los Angeles talent and sports behemoth Creative Artists Agency (CAA) has announced that it will be decamping from its current Century City offices at 2000 Avenue of the Stars to entirely new digs—ones that will be conveniently located just across the street.

Scheduled for 2026, the move will find CAA transition into the role of anchor tenant at Century City Center, an under-construction 37-story office tower at 1950 Avenue of the Stars developed by Chicago-based JMB Realty and designed by the L.A.-based Johnson Fain. While details are still on the slim side (the development’s official website is not yet live), Deadline shared the news that CAA’s new offices will occupy “a building-within-a-building” at Century City Center and that Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) will reportedly lead the design of the space. The agency will have its own entrance, lobby, parking area and the future office space (its exact size has not yet been disclosed) will feature “cutting-edge collaboration, dining, health & wellness, and event spaces,” per CAA’s announcement.

The glassy, 700,000-square-foot Johnson Fain-designed tower itself is set to feature dining and retail space along with 2 acres of gardens and courtyards covering the entirety of a low-slung parking structure. It is targeting LEED Platinum certification. When completed, the new Century City tower will also be accessible to the forthcoming Constellation/Century City Metro station that’s slated to open in 2025.

“Today’s news underscores the energy and momentum of CAA and the tremendous growth we’re experiencing across our businesses,” said CAA co-chairman Richard Lovett in a statement. “We’re designing a home for the future here in Los Angeles that captures the imagination, inspiration and creativity that’s fundamental to the work we do, and that continues to drive our success for clients.”

CAA, which employs roughly 850 people locally and nearly 2,000 around the globe per the Los Angeles Times, currently occupies about 3,000 square feet of space at the Gensler-designed 2000 Avenue of the Stars, its home since 2007, as well as satellite offices in other Century City towers. Part of the “tremendous growth” mentioned by Lovett comes from the recent acquisition of Century City neighbor and rival agency ICM Partners, which is headquartered just around the corner from CAA at 10250 Constellation Boulevard. Completed in 2003 as the new corporate headquarters for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the building, known as Constellation Place, was also designed by Johnson Fain. (MGM left the complex for nearby Beverly Hills in 2011 following its bankruptcy).

Now undergoing regulatory review, the CAA—ICM merger is expected to go close later this year per the Times.

As detailed by Urbanize LA, the redevelopment trajectory for the long-vacant site at 1950 Avenue of the Stars has been particularly twisty. JMB first commenced its plans to redevelop the site in 2005 with a condo tower. In 2011, those plans shifted to a commercial office high-rise and then back again to residential in 2018. In 2019, JMB settled on plans for a state-of-the-art (and highly sustainable) office tower that is now under construction.
