We know it can feel agonizing to wade through Amazon’s massive deals event, but that’s where we come in. We’re rounding up the best early Amazon Prime Day deals 2022 has to offer—from early bargains on Amazon devices like Kindles and smart home tech gadgets to furniture, mattresses, kitchen goods, and more. Plus, we’re not stopping there—we’ll be updating this page from now through the very end of Prime Day, and circulating deals from some of our favorite retailers who are also running discounts during the same time period.
If you want to check out all of our other Prime Day content, there are some handy links below. If you just want to see the best of the best Amazon Prime Day deals our editors have been eyeing, keep reading.
What are some of the best Prime Day deals for 2022?
We’ve tried, tested, and investigated a lot of Amazon products over the years. Everything from down comforters and Amazon sheets to bath towels, cleaning supplies, and more. We recommended reading our editors’ reviews and seeing what catches your eye because, big surprise here, many of those items are already on sale.
Best Amazon Prime Day deals: Home
If you’re in the mood to upgrade your bedroom, we think a nice air purifier, area rug, some sheets, or a new mattress will help you design a space that looks and feels like a million bucks (but certainly doesn’t cost it).
Even better, tons of the products on sale during Prime Day have been tried and tested by AD’s editors, like the Nectar mattress, which won our Best Mattress-in-a-Box award, and the Coway Airmega 250 Smart Air Purifier features editor Nick Mafi praised for its smart controls and quiet operations. Here’s where you can shop the best mattress Prime Day deals if a good night’s sleep is top of mind.
Best Amazon Prime Day deals: Kitchen
Home chefs and kitchenware aficionados will be happy to hear that there are lots of good deals being cooked up this year. We recommend trying out the Wolf coffee maker that our contributor Terri Williams tested and named her favorite splurge machine, as well as some of our fave Instant Pots and coffee accessories. And don’t overlook the Bialetti Moka Express deal—contributor Lauren Joseph swears by it for a “rich, deeply flavored, concentrated cup of coffee.” If you want to grab something for your kitchen, here’s a link to all of the early Amazon Prime Day deals on coffee makers we’ve come across so far.
Best Amazon Prime Day deals: Home security and tech deals
When else are you going to see deals on hands-free Apple earbuds, Bluetooth smart speakers, and OLED smart TVs, as well as home security and Amazon Alexa–assisted speakers? Even our perennial favorites, like the Google Nest thermostat, are discounted for the big day—no coupon needed. We also highly recommend checking out the Prime Day TV deals if you’re making that big ticket purchase.
Best Amazon Prime Day deals: Vacuums
Vacuuming doesn’t have to suck (metaphorically, that is). We’re excited to see that more than a few cleaners we’ve tested—like Terri’s favorite Shark robot vacuum for hardwood floors and the iRobot Roomba 692 that was one of the most purchased products by Clever readers last year—are on sale this year. If you’re casually in the market for a vacuum, keep scrolling! But if you’re in dire need of a deep clean, we recommend checking out our roundup dedicated to the many Prime Day sales on vacuum cleaners running at Amazon, Target, Dyson, and more.
When is Amazon Prime Day?
Technically, the two-day sales extravaganza starts on Tuesday, July 12 at 12 a.m. PST and runs through 11:59 p.m. PST on July 13. That said, the best early Prime Day deals have been rolling in for the past few days. More on that below!
How does Prime Day work?
A Prime membership is required to take advantage of the deals. Luckily, it doesn’t take much to become an Amazon Prime member. They offer a 30-day free trial for newbies, and after that it’s $14.99 per month to take advantage of their blazing fast shipping, Prime Video, and all the other benefits the mega retailer offers.
Now, on to the deals. Some last the full 48 hours, others are what they call “lightning deals” and don’t last more than a few hours.
We recommend a few things:
- Pace yourself. Like we said, it’s a marathon, not a sprint!
- Keep track of items you’ve got your eye on. You can set up deal alerts on Amazon by adding faves to your cart and clicking “save for later.”
- Cross-reference where you can find the lowest price (keep reading for more on that, too).
Are any other retailers offering discounts during Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon isn’t the only retailer hosting a sales event during the next few days. It‘s like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Labor Day all rolled into one. So far, Target, Nordstrom, and Walmart have all announced their deal days. Last year we saw tons more brands (like Best Buy and Our Place) joining the Prime Day party.
