The Architecture and Design Arts Authority is a Saudi governmental body based in the capital, Riyadh, established in February 2020,

this body aims to take care of the architecture and design sector, and to support practitioners in it.

Architecture is a cultural reflection, as culture includes manifestations of the thought and achievements of societies,

and architecture is one of the most prominent of these manifestations,

and the architectural master is considered a physical embodiment of the cultural, intellectual, social, political and technical conditions.

in addition to proposing draft systems and regulations that are compatible with the nature of the authority’s work.

The authority’s competence extends to many fields that include architecture, urban design, environmental architecture and interior design,

and various design fields such as graphic design, furniture design and industrial design, as the authority’s jurisdiction includes creative professions that form cities,

building architecture, interior environments and products that are used on a daily basis.

The Architecture and Design Authority also works to encourage funding and investment in areas related to the authority’s competencies,

and to propose standards and standards for the architecture and design sector.

The authority encourages individuals, institutions and companies to produce and develop content in the architecture and design sector,

in addition to holding training courses, approving professional training programs and certification bodies specialized in training in fields related to their competencies,

building educational programs and providing scholarships for talented people in coordination with the relevant authorities in the sector.

Architecture and design arts, in addition to supporting the protection of intellectual property rights, licensing activities related to the Authority’s field of work, and creating a database for the sector.

The authority is responsible for organizing and holding local and international conferences, exhibitions, events and competitions,

within the limits of the authority’s jurisdiction and participating in them, in coordination with the relevant authorities,

and in accordance with the procedures followed, establishing companies or participating in establishing or entering into them in accordance with the followed statutory procedures,

and participating in federations, organizations and regional and international bodies.

in addition to representing the Kingdom in relevant regional and international bodies, organizations and forums.

 

 

• The role of the Architecture Arts and Design Authority in cultivating Saudi talent and developing the rising generation of Saudi architects

The Architecture and Design Arts Authority works to create the environment, support talents,

and advance all aspects related to the arts of architecture and design in the Kingdom,

by specifying the specializations that the authority will work on in accordance with the vision and directions of the Ministry of Culture.

It also works to support and empower practitioners, provide training courses and professional programs,

in addition to everything that affects and is affected by this sector, and develops a comprehensive strategy for the sector based on a thorough study of the current situation,

and takes into account the differences between the fields, each field is entitled to it.

Participation of practitioners is important in correctly directing the sector,

because they represent the inspiring and active side and contribute to the sector to the same extent as the material achievements,

and work to create spaces to accommodate moods and increase the desire to remain in the place.

Within the framework of supporting and developing the rising generation of architects,

the Architecture and Design Authority launched a competition entitled “Designing the Saudi Cup” for designing cups and prizes for the “Saudi Cup” runs for horse races for the year 2022 AD.

The authority has directed this competition to designers, students and design institutions,

with the aim of discovering and highlighting the local talents in the sector, empowering them and developing their capabilities,

and through this competition the authority seeks to design integrated sets of trophies and prizes for all rounds,

awarded to horse owners, trainers and cavalrymen,

by designing 23 pieces of character. An exceptional cultural compatible with the cultural heritage of the Kingdom.
