The 16 Most Iconic HAY Designs In History | Architectural Digest
Sowden Coffee Pot
The coffee or tea pot could be thought of as the design object for those in the know, with a wide array of options available from famous designers around the world. HAY’s Sowden Coffee Pot is no exception, with a simple yet elegant form designed by George Sowden—one of the founders of famed design powerhouse Memphis Group—in his Milan studio. The pot isn’t just beautiful to look at, but it also boasts a SoftBrew™ brewing device that infuses your coffee for peak flavor without the need for paper filters.
Sowden Bottle
For this family of colorful kitchenware designed for HAY, Sowden also crafted a playful bottle that can be utilized for both hot and cold drinks on the go. Offered in a variety of gently contrasting colorways, the classic bottle brings to mind antique wood toys and other hallmarks of Danish design, all while maintaining its sleek and modern profile.
Hay Jug
For the brand’s famous jug, which can be seen on tables and in design-focused stores around the world, HAY collaborated with expert glassware artist Jochen Holz. Holz’s design uses borosilicate glass, meaning it’s both heat resistant and a beautiful addition to your dining table, and it comes in a bolder amber-and-royal-blue colorway or a subtler grassy green, so there’s something for everyone.
Wang & Söderström Soft Candleholder
For the funkier side of things, HAY’s collaboration with Swedish design duo Wang & Söderström offers a line of drippy and twisty vases, sculptures, and candleholders that work as miniature art objects for even the coziest of spaces. We love this candleholder, which was designed as a 3D model before being 3D printed and fabricated in a ceramics factory. Pair your candleholder with HAY’s signature spiral candles, available in delicious colors—like a hearty tangerine or powder blue—and crafted in Italy.
Tann Toothbrush
For HAY, the small things stand out—even a toothbrush. For its collaboration with Scandinavian tooth care brand Jordan, HAY created a clean and simple monochromatic toothbrush, available in minty green. Don’t let the simplicity fool you: Jordan has been around for almost 100 years, so it definitely knows how to make a toothbrush of all things!
Kaleido Tray
Crafted from powder-coated steel, these tangram-esque storage trays by designer Clara von Zweigbergk toe the line between precision and playfulness. Time for an office makeover?
Recycled Colour Crate
We love a design makeover, especially when it comes to something as often unexciting as storage. HAY’s crates, made from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic waste, seamlessly blend practicality with a range of pastels and accent colors. They’re currently available in various sizes, and you can fold them up when you’re using them.
HAY Sonos One Limited Edition Collection
For those who remember, the arrival of the Sonos speaker marked a turning point in sound systems, with design-forward Wi-Fi speakers that could be found in homes both large and small around the world. For its collaboration with the brand, HAY created a set of five custom colorways inspired by different places and people to which the speaker might go, like a pastel yellow “inspired by kitchens and bathrooms” and a friendly green “that looked like pots or plants in the window frames.” Though not for sale at the moment, we’re hoping to see another collaboration between these two in the near future.
