tetro + av extended present ‘iris’ at the 2021 lyon light festival
for the long-awaited festival of lights in lyon, french agency TETRO takes over the iconic saint-jean cathedral with multimedia collective AV extended to create ‘iris’ — a mesmerizing video mapping show. through various visual tableaux, the project questions the complexity and multiplicity of views through light by turning the cathedral’s rosette into the iris of our eye. the final composition is a series of images that ‘adorned the beautiful building with a new ephemeral skin made of architectural volumes, chromatic explosions, a monumental optical diaphragm or kaleidoscopic deconstructions,’ shares TETRO.
act 1 – from form to image
an award-winning composition of music + chromatic patterns
divided into seven acts, the ‘iris’ light show at the 2021 lyon light festival was created by jérémie bellot and josselin fouché from the AV extended collective, and produced by the team at TETRO. musicians ena eno & stéphane clor also contributed with a poetic composition. the show was so popular that it won the trophée des lumières 2021awarded by the city of lyon and france television.
