Emanuele Magini unveils ‘Gea’, an unusual sculptural chair design where one can hide and rest. Deeply influenced by the Italian designer’s quest for privacy, the eye-catching piece takes shape as a ‘domestic shell’ that fully envelops the user and can also transform into a comfortable bed.

a place of freedom

Emanuele Magini (see more here) imagines Gea as more than a chair, forming a place of freedom where one can isolate, hide and relax. Integrating both conceptual and sculptural traits, the design combines a comfortable seat and an enveloping resting surface in one piece. The result sees a soft truncated cone-shaped volume covered in colorful Lycra with metal and white ABS base. The inner protective area can serve both as a seat and a bed.
