SCP launches the ‘camp’ armchair by philippe malouin at padiglione brera
the ‘camp’ armchair evokes 1940s-50s military camp gear
On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2022, the ‘Camp’ armchair by Philippe Malouin for SCP will launch alongside the company’s new furniture and accessories collections at the Padiglione Brera from June 7-12, 2022. With stylistic references to 1940s-50s military camp gear, the chair is an exercise in simplicity and quality construction to provide high-level comfort for users. It features a clear wooden frame, a webbed seat pad, four feather cushions, and hard-wearing cotton, and is finished with leather trimming details.
sustainable upholstery paired with FSC-approved wood
Specifically, the ‘Camp’ armchair by Philippe Malouin (see more here) is upholstered in 68% natural and sustainable upholstery materials, with an FSC solid ash frame and 100% cotton jacket. Since 2020, all new SCP (see more here) upholstery designs are now audited for sustainability and are presented with a percentage that denotes the natural material used in each piece. Additionally, all wood-based products are made exclusively from FSC-approved sources by manufacturing partners in the EU.
Part of these changes reflects the company’s efforts in developing sustainable upholstery pieces using environmentally sound alternatives to petrochemical-based foams for over a decade. ‘Attempting to remove one key component of modern upholstery making (foam) and replace it with fully sustainable natural materials has been a lengthy and challenging journey, one which we are still on,’ shares the team.
