a transforming park bench
the palissade park dining bench by ronan and erwan bouroullec (see more here) is defined by its curving, modular frame. this frame is realized in two distinct variations, which are designed to curve in two different directions. with this simple directional shift, the bench can take on a wide variety of organizations as it begins to grow. it might become an inward- or outward-facing circle or arcs, or a meandering stroke.
even a minimum of just two benches can be connected for a simple, compact piece. overall, the customizable bench can transform to become entirely unique with the simplest of moves.

the palissade collection
with the release of its new park dining bench, the team at studio bouroullec elaborates on its ‘palissade’ collection: ‘all pieces of the collection are made of standard tubes in steel round for the frame and rectangular for the slats of the seat. this construction allows us to construct a wide range of typologies with a common formal language.
‘from stools and benches to chairs and tables, lounge chairs and sofas — the collection comprises thirteen different elements, united not only by their graphical image but also by their common characteristics: they are strong without being bulky, elegant without being fragile.’
