Richard Gere lists Westchester County compound for $28 million

Pretty Woman star Richard Gere has listed his 8-bedroom, 11-bath compound in Pound Ridge, New York, for $28 million.

Located about an hour’s drive from midtown Manhattan, the 11,600-square-foot Colonial mansion sits on 4,300 acres of protected land, purchased over a period of about 10 years, Dirt.com first reported. Last year, Gere decamped to nearby North Salem with wife Alejandra Silva and their two toddlers.

The Pound Ridge house has a total of 19 rooms and 9 fireplaces spread across three floors, with several cozy secondary residences, a six-stall barn, fenced paddocks, and private pond filling out the pastoral expanse.

Muffin Dowdle of Ginnel Real Estate has the listing.

A Connecticut castle returns to market for $60 million

You don’t have to travel to Europe to live like a royal: A 20-room castle in Woodstock, Connecticut, could be yours for $60 million.

Owned by Christopher Mark, great-grandson of steel tycoon Clayton Mark, Chrismark Castle is straight out of a Harry Potter book, with a moat, various turrets, stained glass windows, and 126-foot-tall towers.

The 18,000-plus square feet of interior space include 9 bedrooms, 7 baths, and 12 fireplaces, while the property’s 75 acres are also home to a private lake.

John Pizzi of Randal Realtors, who has the listing, said he was “awestruck” when he first saw Chrismark. “It’s like being in Disneyland,” Pizzi tells AD PRO. “Once you’re inside, it’s hard to believe it’s only a few years old. Because of the attention to all the details, it gives you the feeling of being in a centuries-old castle.”

Mark and his now ex-wife, Mary Galt, bought the parcel at 450 Brickyard in 2003 for a modest $167,500. Over the next seven years, he built his dream home at a reported cost of $4.1 million, according to Connecticut Magazine.

He first listed the property in 2014 for $45 million and has relisted it several times since then—most recently in January 2021 for $35 million.
