rattan rocking chairs by xiao xiang carry pure consolation throughout worrying pandemic instances
minimal curves and rattan rattles form chair series by xiao xiang
designer xiao xiang introduces TENG, a rattan furniture collection that was designed and listed during the COVID-19 pandemic, hoping to heal the destructive divide between humans and nature. the series is composed of two rocking chairs —a big and a small one— as well as a leisure chair. minimal lines, smooth curves, and thick rattles complete the pieces, which combine traditional handicraft with modern aesthetics and production technology.

TENG is made of pure natural rattan, by merging traditional craft and modern mass production technology of large equipment, which can make products be produced in large quantities. the series seeks to bring comfort during the stressful pandemic times we’re all going through, to alleviate the restless and anxiety-inducing moments, and to promote peaceful leisure moments at home.
the big rocking chair depicts the dynamics of birds flying with minimal lines from the side; the leisure chair and the small rockery chair are extracted with the lines of traditional chinese folk furniture, which give prominence to the beauty of the minimal curve.
