set in valencia, the new pichiavo art studio is a two-story creative hub endowed with clean lines and ample space where spanish duo, juan antonio sánchez (pichi) and álvaro hernández (avo), can freely experiment and expand their work.
designed by architects expédito aparicio and césar plaza, the new studio sits in an old warehouse in manises famous for its ceramics and industrial heritage. it’s also where pichiavo set up its first studio back in the 2000s. construction works started in december 2020 and lasted for over a year, amid the covid-19 pandemic.

a two-story studio for versatile use and personal displays
ground floor is intended for creation. it includes different areas that are versatile and adaptable to various activities like painting, sculpting, photo shooting, or packing in a big open space. a smaller room complements the open floor plan and is destined for stocking and cleaning.
the upper space holds the office, a meeting room, and the kitchen/lounge. on the walls there, pichiavo (see more here) has reserved a space for displaying its artwork collection by vhils, shepard fairey, and robert proch, among others. the office is the central element of the first flow, visually connecting to the painting area through a huge glass wall.
more importantly, the whole project pays special attention to natural light, isolation, and ventilation. the aim here is to create the perfect conditions for the use of color and materials, which are paramount in the work of pichiavo. formed in 2007, the artist duo is widely recognized for projects such as the houston bowery wall in new york or the municipal ‘falla’ monument in 2019.
