providing privacy and close contact with nature

on the limited plot of land, junsekino tried to utilize the space effectively by compressing the programs together, arranging the main living area on the upper floor. the architect clearly isolated the space into three main parts, taking the need for privacy deeply into consideration. there is the terrace, the common area, and the main living room which are all elevated above the ground level and covered underneath a huge steep roof. in this way, the design provides privacy, concealing the occupants from the neighboring houses. meanwhile, the openings around the house are being camouflaged by the roof as well as the terraces on both floors, which allows the owners to enjoy the surrounded nature without leaving their dwelling.

the architect decided to take add skylights to the sloped ceiling, illuminating the interior and bringing occupants an nature closer together. the design incorporates multiple spatial elements that accommodate both the residents and their cats. although the form and space are designed to be simple and straightforward, every detail and juxtaposition of each material is arranged harmoniously, becoming a representative symbol of the owner’s character. the use of translucent materials, including glass block fence and translucent sheet for the eaves, help reduce the solidity of the mass without depriving it of privacy.
