Since its inception in 2001 by Marcel Wanders and Robin Bevers, Moooi has personified a furniture-turned-lifestyle brand that does things differently. This is the case again for Milan Design Week 2022. Moooi’s multi-sensory exhibition called A Life Extraordinary welcomes design enthusiasts online and onsite in the city. The worlds of design and technology, the digital and physical intersect as the brand introduces new design collaborations, furnishings and interior moods alongside partnerships with IDEO and LG.

Step into the immersive exhibition through the digital portal or onsite in Salone dei Tessuti at Via S.Gregorio, 29 – here.

Moooi a life extraordinary

Before entering Moooi’s A Life Extraordinary exhibition, visitors approach a bright ‘O’ shining in a courtyard that opens up to reveal the full immersive environment. This is mirrored via the portal – a digital doorway fashioned after the physical one in Milan. It uses augmented reality to transport any guest as long as they have an internet connection to the world of Moooi. Stockholm-based artist Ada Sokól adds to the ultra-sensory experiences, both online and onsite, by enlivening the brand’s imaginative Extinct Animals. From the Mimic Moth to Queen Cobra and Golden Tiger, the creatures create an eye-catching attraction to all onlookers.

A Life Extraordinary 2022 has a focus on product design, interiors, and technology, with togetherness as common denominator. The boundaries between on- and offline are close to near obsolete. The digital world has a prominent place in our homes and lifestyles. Teaming up with legendary design-firm IDEO heralds the start of a future-minded collaboration that transcends the established goings-on of the worlds of interior design and lifestyle,‘ comments Robin Bevers, CEO Moooi.

IDEO robotics dance through immersive space

Robotic-driven innovative scent machines are scattered and dance throughout the space as visitors enter the exhibition. Developed by IDEO, Piro are dancing diffusers that add another sensorial layer through smell, movement and interaction. The sequences are carefully choreographed by dancer, choreographer and roboticist Catie Cuan to heighten the engaging, extraordinary environment. The robotic features asks guests to ponder how might we employ technology in service of beauty rather than efficiency?
