Doors open at Atelier Vime’s La Maison Vime
When Anthony Watson and Benoît Rauzy moved to Vallabrègues, in the South of France, they immediately fell in love with the village’s wicker-making traditions. Soon, they were turning out their own collections. Through September, those summering in Provence can see Watson and Rauzy’s wicker and rattan creations up close at La Maison Vime, the duo’s new shop situated in a 19th-century home that they spent more than a year renovating. Tableware, candles, and books are on display, as is a line of tablecloths with artist Marie Victoire de Bascher crafted using an old printing technique. A range of painterly notebooks conceived in collaboration with artists Wayne Pate and Emmanuel Pierre will also be available. An antiques section, stocked with paintings, furniture, and ceramics, is yet another draw for nostalgists.
Orior unveils New York flagship in Soho
Orior, the Northern Irish furniture and accessories brand founded by Rosie and Brian McGuigan, in 1979, has moved into a sprawling new showroom in Manhattan’s SoHo district. The group’s distinctly playful viewpoint on form and materiality is well displayed in the architecture of the 4,500-square-foot space, where custom stone tiles in the entry lead to vignettes framed by oak-wrapped arches and sculptural lighting by Bocci. Along with Orior’s spring collection and classics—the Irish green marble Mara credenza and tassel-skirted Atlanta sofa are faves—the showroom highlights items from the maker’s homeware series, Objects, as well as ensembles by fashion designer Katie Ann McGuigan, the owners’ daughter.
Make Hauser & Wirth opens a show in Southampton
Starting tomorrow, July 2, and running through September 10, tourists and residents in Southampton will have the opportunity to explore Of Making and Material, the first U.S. presentation from Make Hauser & Wirth, an initiative established in 2018 to showcase leading contemporary craft. The exhibition, which is located at 50 Hampton Road, near Hauser and Wirth’s regular gallery space on Main Street, will feature such talent as ceramicist and glassmaker Rosa Nguyen, woodworker Alexander deVol, metal maestro Helen Carnac, and others. Clayworker Florian Gadsby, another artist in the show, will be in residence at the space from August 1–15, offering aesthetes the opportunity to peer into the making process.

Modsy shutters e-design services
Modsy, the e-design platform founded by Shanna Tellerman, in 2015, has ceased its design operations amid a pivot to reposition itself as a SaaS provider, reports TechCrunch. According to sources, a company acquisition is believed to have been underway, but the deal ultimately fell through, leading to job cuts across a majority of the company and halting existing projects. A “Coming Soon” section of the Modsy website now touts early access to Modsy Pro, the company’s proprietary design software made up of room-scan technology and AI-powered rendering tools.
