Maya Rudolph’s New Show Was Filmed at One of the Largest Homes in the Country
A new show coming to Apple TV+ just may give Succession and Billions a run for their money when it comes to real estate porn. Loot, premiering June 24, is a comedy starring Maya Rudolph as a billionaire who discovers that her husband (Adam Scott) is having an affair. Postdivorce, she throws herself into work with her charity foundation, presumably learning some life lessons along the way.
This is all spelled out in the trailer, which was released Friday and shows Rudolph discovering her husband’s mistress inside a Kardashian-worthy closet. It’s amazing that Molly (Rudolph’s character) happened upon the woman at all, because her home in the show is one of the largest in the entire country. The show was filmed at the Bel Air behemoth mansion known as “The One,” which features 21 bedrooms, 49 bathrooms, and measures a whopping 105,000 square feet.
For context, there are only two homes in the country with more square footage, and neither operate as private residences anymore. Biltmore Estate, in Asheville, North Carolina—built by architects Richard Morris Hunt and Frederick Law Olmstead as a mountain retreat for George Vanderbilt during the Gilded Age—is 175,000 square feet. Oheka Castle, in Huntington, New York, completed in 1919, is also larger than “The One,” at 109,000 square feet. The former is a museum and tourist attraction, whereas the latter is a hotel, popular wedding venue, and was even featured in Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” music video.
