Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s modernist Barcelona chair | News | Architonic

Although striking in its day, Barcelona’s bold, strictly minimal design has been continuously reflected and referenced in designer furnitures ever since. Artifort’s F416 chair’s square-edged seat cushions, for example, are equally if not more rigid in their graphic simplicity, sharing Barcelona’s laid-back, almost aloof, pitch as well. Similar to Barcelona, F416 opens up its back for all to see, but opts for the solidity of Santos rosewood slats rather than flexible leather strapping.
