Calling all the 80s video-game fans: LEGO is set to release its Atari 2600 set on August 1st, a realistic replica of the retro game console that contains 2,532 LEGO pieces and one mini-figure. The new LEGO set allows the builders to soak in the nostalgic, 80s era as they assemble the game console, cartridge, joystick, and mini model with scene settings that bring back memories of the three hit games at the time. Atari hit games Asteroids, Adventure, and Centipede cartridges, and the scene settings related to each game, are included the heighten the reminiscent and can be inserted into the game console.  The toy set even comes with a storage holder for the game cartridges.

For LEGO, its Atari 2600 symbolizes the 80s and now allows builders to vividly rehash the 80’s as the set is lined with past-era items such as CRT TVs, radio cassettes, posters, dial phones, and roller skates. Looking into the secret room of the set-up LEGO pieces, builders can also find a retro dial-type telephone, a CRT TV, a poster, and a radio cassette player and find that the atmosphere of the 80’s is intricately reproduced. The main body switch can be pulled as a block on the front panel, revealing a hidden-like platform, and a slot dedicated to the game cartridge is present on the pane.

Original cartridge designs

 

To continue the retro design, LEGO makes sure that the printed part of the Atari 2600 cartridge reflects the original design and logo of the game it pertains to. The Atari joystick is made of blocks and just looks and feels like the real one, and builders are more than welcome to toy with it. LEGO says that the set caters to adult LEGO fans who love collector’s models with outstanding design. The toy company says it carried out rigorous quality tests to confirm the strength and safety of the set and that each block is made of the highest quality materials and can be assembled securely and easily removed at any time, even when combined with another set.
