Kris Lin International Design Creates Yacht Inspired Club River Palace

River Palace – The project is club interior design. The Project faces the vast hinterland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. To make the customers more imbued with the atmosphere, we took the most interesting elements-yacht, rethought them in their opinion, and integrated them into the project. In the space, decoration, furniture and even the form of the space itself are restricted and influenced by streamlined outline of yacht. With lines growing from the rooftops, undulating like waves and delineating several sets of pavilion-like private space. Customers can enjoy the wine party set on the terrace, to form a social field with certain vitality.

Architizer chatted with Kris Lin, Founder and Design Director at Kris Lin International Design, to learn more about this project.

Architizer: What inspired the initial concept for your design?

Kris Lin: The Project faces the vast hinterland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, combining with its historical background, the key words set sail came to my mind; therefore, yacht is applied as the design language in the project architecture. The club’s design continues the idea of a yacht.

What do you believe is the most unique or ‘standout’ component of the project?

In Guangzhou, where the climate is pleasant all year round, you can enjoy the breeze at the riverside, watch the dots of lights illuminating both the quietness and business of the city.Customers can interact and experience space in the external area, inside and outside the terrace, to form a social “field” with certain vitality.

What was the greatest design challenge you faced during the project, and how did you navigate it?

To make the customers more imbued with the atmosphere, we took the most interesting elements, rethought them in their opinion, and integrated them into the project. Personality, environmental comfort, affectionate memories, and contemporaneity are pillars of the creation of this project, seeking a simple space, with little environmental impact, but transforming.
