jasper morrison’s plato chair for magis references neoclassicism
JASPER MORRISON & MAGIS CONTINUE THEIR FRUITFUL COLLABORATION
back in the 90s, italian furniture company magis began collaborating with jasper morrison. following great products like the legendary air-family and the pipe collection, the long-lasting and fruitful relationship continues to produce fantastic results. the plato chair is the latest member to join the array, acting as a further proof of a successful relationship.
featuring an understated design with a neoclassical inspiration, its name — plato — references one of the pillars of ancient philosophy, while manifesting a perfect balance between form and function. its sleek yet robust structure results in maximum comfort due to its curved seat.
THE PLATO CHAIR IS STACKABLE AND IDEATED FOR DOMESTIC + CONTRACT USE
jasper morrison describes his plato chair for magic as ‘a fully recyclable chair, with extruded aluminium legs and a die-cast aluminium shell: a technology that enables us to create shells that are both slimmer and stronger than their plastic counterparts. there is also an optional seat cushion, as well as a version with armrests.’
the plato chair in both versions — with or without arms — is stackable and has been ideated for domestic and contract use, including bars and restaurants. the legs are made of aluminium and painted in polyester power. the seat is in die-cast aluminium, also painted in polyester power, making it suitable for outdoor use. a cushion is also available and its made in expanded polyurethane and covered in kvadrat’s divina MD and divina 3 fabric.
the chair is perfect for both outdoor and indoor use
