Janet Jackson Sells Longtime NYC Apartment for $8.8 Million

Singer Janet Jackson has found a buyer for her longtime Central Park West residence, reports The Wall Street Journal. The pop star purchased the unit in 1998 for $2.8 million and listed it last April for $8.995 million. The deluxe dwelling, which offers sweeping Central Park views, has now sold at $8.8 million, slightly below the asking price.

Covering 2,100 square feet, the home contains three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, and floor-to-ceiling windows that take full advantage of the condominium’s coveted cityscape panorama and engulf the open floor plan with natural light. “Whenever entering my apartment of 25 years, I always treasured my home’s wonderful location and the breathtaking views that capture the magic and excitement of New York,” Jackson told The Wall Street Journal.

Those views are clearly the emphasis of the space, which is styled with minimal and modern cream-colored furnishings that don’t pull too much focus away from the glass-lined walls. A window-facing dining counter off of the kitchen offers even more opportunity to take in the sights. The primary bedroom boasts a roomy ensuite bathroom and four closets, one of which is a walk-in. Dark wood built-in cabinetry is the focal point in another room, presented as a sleek but cozy library with custom millwork and wine-red walls.

Situated on a corner of the 34th floor, the abode benefits from amenities offered by the adjoining Trump International Hotel, including a full-service spa and room service from the flagship Jean-Georges restaurant. Although Jackson, who primarily lives in London, reportedly hasn’t stayed in her former New York City digs since 2019, the space seemingly holds sentimental significance for the singer, who said in a statement to The Wall Street Journal, ​​“Stepping through its threshold instantly made me feel so tranquil and at peace—so many memories.”
