hisakazu shimizu and nippon benex explore sheet metal potential
japanese industrial equipment manufacturer nippon benex has collaborated with product designer hisakazu shimizu for the ‘EETAL’ project, with the aim to explore the potential of sheet metal through innovative furniture collections. for their first ‘SUITE FURNITURE’ series, the creators used high-quality processing technology to form an organic design language that contrasts with the stiff nature of iron. so far, the collection features a side table, and a stool chair, available for purchase in a wide range of colors.

behind the SUITE FURNITURE COLLECTION
on the EETAL official website, nippon benex states that the project ‘expresses the shape of sheet metal that no one knows yet’. as a first initiative, the company has partnered with product designer hisakazu shimizu, to form the sheet metal stool & side table series SUITE FURNITURE. the collection emerges as an unexpected fusion of precise craftsmanship, with innovative feelings and ideas.
the table and stool are made by converting iron into an organic flowy form
the metallically organic stool and table
the SUITE FURNITURE series is born with the attempt to overturn the conventional wisdom of sheet metal processing by converting iron into an organic flowy form. the stool consists of just two steel plates with a thickness of only 2 mm. available in black, cream white, green, and lemon yellow, the complexity of the simple product makes it ideal for settings indoors or out.
the uniquely looking table on the other hand, available in gray or cream white, is made with a thin steel top plate and a smoothly-curved leg for support. just as equally funky looking, the product can be used in various situations like for PC work, a drink, or as a display stand.
the table can be used as a display stand as well
