Here’s How Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Are Dividing Their Many Properties
Well, it’s been a long time coming. Last week, E! News reported that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have finally reached a settlement for their ongoing divorce, which the SKKN by Kim founder initially filed for in February 2021. The agreement details how the couple will share custody of their children, as well as how they will split up their many homes–and it turns out that the estranged couple owns a staggering total of 21 properties between the two of them.
After six years of highly publicized marriage, Kardashian and West’s relationship came to an end following a series of controversial statements made by West. Since the filing, West has made statements on social media criticizing his ex-wife, and his increasingly erratic behavior recently culminated in a barrage of antisemitic remarks. The actions of the Grammy-winning rapper, who has publicly addressed his struggles with bipolar disorder, have spurred ongoing debates regarding mental illness, antisemitism, racism, and celebrity culture.
In spite of the very public conflicts between the couple amid their separation, the pair was able to come to an agreement to share joint custody of their four children, 9-year-old North, 7-year-old Saint, 4-year-old Chicago, and 3-year-old Psalm. In addition, West agreed to pay a monthly $200,000 in child support. As for their assets, here’s what we know about how the exes decided to divvy them up.
Hidden Hills
Last year, it was reported that the Kardashians star would be keeping the former couple’s Axel Vervoodt–designed primary residence, which graced the March 2020 cover of AD. Kardashian paid West $23 million to gain full ownership of the home as part of their divorce proceedings. The duo spent $20 million on the überminimalist estate back in 2014 and proceeded to drop another $20 million on renovations. The property’s value is currently estimated at $60 million.
The SKIMS founder will also keep the adjacent four-bedroom and three-bathroom house that she bought for $6.3 million earlier this year. She will also keep the two neighboring properties that the former couple bought in 2019 for $2.7 and $2.975 million, in addition to the nearby ranch-style home that she is in the process of selling.
As for West, he will keep the next-door $4.5 million five-bedroom house that he bought in an effort to stay near their children shortly after Kardashian filed for divorce in 2021, according to TMZ.
La Quinta
Kardashian will keep the undeveloped $6.3 million La Quinta parcel that the pair bought in 2018 for $6.3 million. In February of this year, Kardashian told Vogue that she’d enlisted the architect Tadao Ando to design a home on the Palm Springs–area property. Other outlets have reported that the mansion will resemble a spaceship, but that the reality star has faced permitting issues. It’s unclear if Kardashian still plans to build the futuristic home.
Malibu
Kardashian and West each have Malibu beach homes that they will keep, both of which were purchased after their separation. The beauty mogul has her $70.4 million beachside oasis that famously once belonged to Cindy Crawford, while the “Bound 2” rapper will retain his $57.3 million mansion designed by Tadao Ando and built by AD100 firm Marmol Radziner.
