ground murano glass finishes patricia urquiola’s tactile tables for glas italia
glas italia at milan design week 2022
As Milan Design Week returned to full swing for its much-anticipated 2022 edition, Glas Italia delighted visitors to Salone del Mobile at Rho Fiera with a stunning display of bold and beautiful glass objects. The brand showcased a range of products designed in partnership with returning collaborators Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, Piero Lissoni, Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola and George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg. This year the company also collaborated with Inga Sempé for the first time.
Over an area of 450 sqm, the Glas Italia stand at Salone del Mobile sought to recreate the feeling of refined contemporary domestic interiors and of eclectic and functional working and hospitality spaces. We’ve selected some of our highlights from the exhibition below…
Patricia Urquiola: SIMOON high and low tables, console and writing desk
the ‘Simoon’ tables are coated with a special grit of ground Murano glass, available in amethyst, light blue and topaz colors

Patricia Urquiola: DOBLE storage units
the ‘Doble’ storage units feature a hexagonal shape made with an innovative laminated glass
‘I continue my collaboration with Glas Italia through a collection of furniture, whose intention is to enhance the material, a highly innovative glass, the result of experimentation and exchange with the company,’ says Patricia Urquiola.
‘The three-dimensional storage units seem to multiply the objects inside them, thanks to the ‘illusory’ and pleasantly distorting effects of the lenticular glass that makes up the surfaces. Not only that, even the inclinations of the supporting surfaces are conceived to create different perspectives so that the reflections can be admired from multiple points of view. A game of optical illusions, of unexpected and ever-changing effects. An evolving glass.’
Philippe Starck: DONALD high and low tables
the ‘Donald’ coffee tables are available in three sizes and in 12 shades of transparent glass

Philippe Starck comments, ‘By the magic of transparency, reflection and diffraction, a Donald can hide a Donald.’
Piero Lissoni: TÊTE-À-TÊTE sofas
the Tête-à-Tête sofas are characterized by a clean and light design, with structure in 19 mm thick transparent extralight glass, shaped, tempered and UV-bonded
