foster + partners designs paw-inspiring dog kennel with geodesic timber shell
‘like architecture in miniature’ says norman foster
Foster + Partners shares its competition entry for a cutting-edge dog kennel as part of Goodwoof, a new pet-focused event that’s being held this weekend (May 28-29, 2022) at Goodwood House in West Sussex. Called ‘Dome-Home’, the plush kennel has a geometric form that’s enough to make any design-minded dog owner drool.
‘We are delighted to be involved in this year’s Goodwoof,’ says Norman Foster. ‘The Dome-Home features a geodesic shell structure – it is like architecture in miniature.’

reimagining canine luxury
Handcrafted by English furniture maker Benchmark from engineered cherry wood, Dome-Home is a celebration of craftsmanship and fine timber work. The architects shaped a bowl-like interior with a flexible padded fabric liner that can be easily removed for washing.
Foster + Partners’ Dome-Home will compete with architects from around the globe during Goodwoof’s Barkitecture competition for the ‘Single Kennel Design Award’. The final shortlisted kennels will be auctioned off by Bonhams in a live sale on Sunday May 29th. All the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, Dog’s Trust.
