exod’s monolith is a one-person hanging inflatable tent
EXOD SLIMS DOWN THE ARK TENT, RESULTING IN THE MONOLITH
back in 2020, french startup EXOD launched ARK, an inflatable eco tent that combined an inflatable structure with an elevated hammock. coming together through inflation, tension and compression, the tent was designed to be both stable and versatile, satisfying glamping requirements — it could be assembled either on the floor or raised above the ground like a hammock, but without the curve.
following more research and with the aim of creating a new product that maintains the quality and futuristic design of their previous one, EXOD strikes back with the MONOLITH, a smaller, lighter and more affordable tent.
FROM 10 LB (4.5 KG) TO 6.4 LB (2.9 KG)
just like the ARK, the MONOLITH is inspired by kitesurfing technology and features a carbon frame adapted from a special forces stretcher. the setup is quick and versatile, and can be adapted to any terrain during any season. the flat and stable bed features a storage rack that doubles as thermal insulation.
used as a tent on the ground or hanging like a hammock, MONOLITH is made of a breathable waterproof fabric made in japan and certified by bluesign®. the basic ground tent kit weighs 6.4 lb (2.9 kg) and includes the tent and fly, skates, guy lines, a pack sack and rear kit. when packed, it comes down to a portable size of 16 x 13 x 9 inches (40 x 32 x 23 cm).
the stretcher poles can telescope down to a 27.5 x 1.4 x 2.8 – in (70 x 3.5 x 7 cm) package that weighs roughly 1.8 lb (800 gr), while the straps pack down to 4 x 4 x 7 in (10 x 10 x 18 cm) and weigh 2 lb (900 gr). by splitting the components and specs in such a way, EXOD makes it easier for owners to take what they need and identify how much weight they are carrying and leaving behind.
the MONOLITH has a €850 (USD $960) price tag and can be reserved for a refundable €100.
