Ellen DeGeneres Sells Montecito Villa to Scooter Braun for $36 Million

Serial house-flipper Ellen DeGeneres and actor Portia de Rossi are once again raking in major real estate dough. The couple sold the Moorish-style Montecito house that they paid $21 million for six months ago to none other than talent manager and record exec Scooter Braun, according to Dirt. Braun, known for representing A-list talent like Justin Beiber and Ariana Grande (who purchased a home from DeGeneres in 2020), dropped $36 million on the 11,947-square-foot pad.

Known as Villa Tragara, the four-bedroom, five-bathroom structure was completed in 2014 and modeled after the Alhambra palace in Granada, Spain. In true Spanish style, the mansion’s peachy stucco facade is topped with terracotta roof tiles. Inside, steel Corinthian columns and intricate vaulted ceilings add to the abode’s grandiose style.

The dwelling offers tons of lavish comforts, including floor-to-ceiling windows, a Turkish hammam-style bathroom with an alabaster bathtub, and European-imported floors rigged with radiant heat. The massive bedroom suites provide plenty of ocean views and an attached one bedroom guest house enjoys its own kitchen and living room. Outside, the estate is flush with luxe amenities that include a swimming pool, olive tree orchard, koi pond, bocce and pickle ball courts, fire pit, and a pergola that seats 16 for al fresco dining.

This marks the third confirmed property that DeGeneres has sold in 2022. “The problem is I keep seeing houses I like. I see one that has potential and I love putting my own twist on it,” the former talk show host told AD last year. It’s not yet clear what changes DeGeneres made in her six months of ownership since the sale was an off-market deal, but whatever personal twist the Finding Dory actor added to the home apparently warranted a $15 million increase to its price tag.

Braun made a tidy profit himself on a $28 million Montecito estate last year, shortly after buying the record-breaking $65 million Brentwood property that he still maintains.
