Ellen DeGeneres Sells Mid-Century Modern Beverly Hills Home for $8.8 Million
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have already had a busy 2022 both buying and selling homes in Montecito, California, but their first deal in Los Angeles County for the year just went down. According to Dirt, the couple have sold their Robert Skinner-designed five bedroom, six bathroom Beverly Hills home for $8.8 million.
The dust has barely settled since DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased the mid-century modern home just eight months ago for $8.3 million. Though the selling price doesn’t represent a major profit after broker fees, taxes, and maintenance—at least by their standards—it’s unlikely that they spent much renovating the property. At the time of their purchase in the fall of 2021, the dwelling had just undergone renovations by the previous owners, with restoration shepherded by architect John Bertram and interiors designed by Sarah Shetter. Custom Douglas fir cabinetry, floor to ceiling windows, and in some rooms, wood-paneled ceilings and walls, secure and honor the California modernist legacy of the residence. Numerous distinct outdoor spaces extend from the 4,614 square foot interior, with quiet landscaped areas, paved patio spots, and for entertaining, a covered dining area adjacent to the pool.

It’s safe to assume the off-market deal went pretty smoothly, seeing as the buyer, Guy Oseary, lives just next door to the Beverly Hills property. Oseary has reportedly owned that space since 2005, when he paid $7.4 million, and purchased another adjacent home for $4.3 million in 2015, so this deal now leaves him with three side by side homes sitting on 2.4 contiguous acres.
