Charlize Theron Buys Renovated Studio City Bungalow for $2.6 Million

The recent sale of Charlize Theron’s longtime Beverly Grove home has not yet been finalized, but the Oscar-winning actor has already added another Los Angeles property to her real estate portfolio, according to Dirt. Theron reportedly paid $2.64 million–$340,000 over the initial asking price–for a contemporary-style three-bedroom and two-and-a-half-bathroom house in Studio City. 

The cozy 2,000-square-foot single-floor dwelling was initially erected in 1941 but was completely rebuilt this year by designer Rob Diaz. The modern redesign appointed minimal charcoal-hued exterior cladding, douglas fir wood trim along the interior windows and doors, white oak floors, Carrara marble kitchen counters, and tiled limestone floors in the bathrooms. 

The primary bedroom offers a walk-in closet with custom shelving and a spa-like ensuite bathroom with a 55-inch circular Japanese soaking tub enclosed in a glass-walled shower area. A tiled ensuite bathroom is also attached to one of the other two bedrooms. In the living room, an oversized sliding glass door accesses the backyard and provides a hefty dose of sunlight, which reaches the adjacent kitchen thanks to a unique large interior window connecting the two spaces. The kitchen boasts high-end appliances complemented by custom cabinetry, a custom sink, and a marble breakfast bar below the window to the living room.

What was once a detached two-car garage has been converted into an additional furnished space that could work as an office, gym, or lounge area, outfitted with white oak exposed beams,  custom carriage doors, and an expansive glass-covered wall that floods the ADU with sunlight and provides views of the landscaped backyard, complete with a patio for al fresco dining. In the front yard, guests are greeted by a courtyard centered with a Manzanillo olive tree.

Theron, who once earned a spot on Forbes’s list of the highest-paid celebrities in the world, first received widespread acclaim for her starring role in the 2003 serial killer drama Monster. Since then, the South African-born actor has starred in a long list of high-profile movies, including Mad Max: Fury Road and Atomic Blonde.
