Alexander Yamaev, the Chief Industrial Designer of Karfidov Lab, imagines his electric scooter cruiser ZID as having a capsule-looking design that hides the vehicle’s wheels, almost grazes the floor at a first glance, and has a mini-compartment of portable objects. The low handlebars and seat may immediately give the impression that tall people might find it difficult to ride this scooter, albeit its sleek look trying to convince the scooter’s design is for everyone. Electric wires are visible in the design but do not dangle over the scooter. Instead, they are attached to the tube by the handlebars to make them look as if they are part of the design. A smartphone holder is also attached to the bars, so riders can check where they are going using their device’s GPS applications.

Compact capsule-shaped electric scooter

 

The scooter might be compact in size, but that does not mean it will not offer spaces to put objects and items. Just below the seat, a rectangular open case acts as the basket to put groceries in, a bat to use during baseball practice, and even small items bought along the rider’s journey toward their destination. Going to the front part, an L-shaped small seat is anchored onto the scooter that can be used to tie objects around when the main compartment is already brimming with items. With its size, charging the scooter may not cause any issues, but it can still depend on the battery to be installed once the concept becomes a real product.

Potential 3D-designed electric scooter

 

Looking at the 3D design, the scooter seems to weigh a lot, but producers are more than welcome to tweak the components to cater to the present needs of having portable and less-heavy vehicles on the roads and streets. Since it is electric, it is likely that Alexander Yamaev’s design runs smoothly and with less noise, two factors that seek to reduce carbon footprint by not producing zero emissions and little-to-no revving sound. With its stylish design, the Zid scooter might be a hit in the current generation, but its openness to modifications and integration of modern technologies and issues are still some of the questions yet to be answered.
