candela makes history at SailGP
at this weekend’s SailGP in san francisco bay, the french team joined forces with swedish boatmakers candela to launch the competition’s first electric hydrofoil chase boat. candela’s 100% electric C-7 flew alongside the france SailGP team’s catamaran at 30 knots, giving VIP guests a close-up view of the action.

the candela C-7 specs
designed to be lightweight but still rigid and strong, the hull of the C-7 is made of vacuum-infused carbon fiber. a computer-controlled foil system lifts the watercraft above the surface, offering an almost completely silent driving experience and a smooth ride even in choppy conditions.
on a full charge, the C-7 can travel 50 nautical miles at 22 knots, which is enough to cruise the entire san francisco bay. the all-electric boat has a top speed of 30 knots with zero emissions. the C-7 also features a 12-inch touchscreen with all the necessary controls, including ones for retracting the hydrofoils, and connection to the cloud so drivers can receive over-the-air updates. first introduced in 2019, the candela C-7 is now only available in limited numbers pre-owned.
all the controls can be found via a 12-inch touchscreen
