Is pregnancy craving a myth?

Burger King Germany has launched a new limited burger edition to celebrate mother’s day on 8th May. Following a study of 1,070 women who are or were once pregnant, The ‘Pregnancy Whopper’ turns the most popular meal cravings and weird combinations into nine extraordinary burgers. The study was realized on women between 16 and 45 and showed that pregnancy cravings do exist and no woman needs to feel alone when she’s in the mood for ‘uncommon’ munchies.

More specifically, 58% of the responders stated they are pretty familiar with this phenomenon, giving witty responses like: ‘when I have a craving, then it has to be satisfied’, ‘I can sleep whenever I want, so I can eat whenever I want’, ‘I eat everything’, ‘I definitely listen to my belly’.

pregnancy whopper: nine types of shocking flavor combinations

The brand launched the ‘Pregnancy Whopper’ campaign, offering the burger lineup only to mothers or expecting mothers, fulfilling bizarre cravings. From paradoxical combinations of sweet and salty — like fried eggs and banana, vanilla ice cream and olives, or bratwurst and nut-nougat-creme — to odd mixes of fish and meat — like currywurst and brathering — the meals look almost normal.

‘Why should I hide it, I’m pregnant, so what?’, ‘it’s really funny, I don’t find it disgusting at all’, the promo video captures astonishing reactions of pregnant women with their families, talking about their very own food desires, while then they take a bite of their own creations. The meals were available for just one day at only one Burger King store in Berlin.
