Bobby Berk Is Listing a Palm Springs Hacienda-Style Home on Airbnb

Designer Bobby Berk makes dreams come true all the time on Queer Eye. But when it came to his own fantasy of owning a house in the desert, he could never justify having another property that he’d only use on occasion. That all changed last year during a stay in Palm Desert. “I thought, I should find a house and I should Airbnb it,” Berk tells AD, and that’s exactly what he did.

Berk came across a picturesque Spanish Hacienda-style property in Palm Springs that he would soon transform into a luxurious oasis for Airbnb guests to enjoy. “I could get the house that I’ve always wanted as a vacation home, but also make money off of it at the same time. It justifies getting an additional home,” he says.

Despite the gutting, electrical, plumbing, and roofing updates the house required, Berk embraced the quirkiness about the property while giving it a modern facelift. “I wanted to keep as much of the original pieces of the house as I could, so we kept all of the original flooring and wood ceilings,” he says.

Berk completely relandscaped the backyard so that guests can enjoy the beautiful desert during their stay. The stone flooring, rocks and palm trees transport guests to something akin to a Mexican resort. The newly placed pool will cool guests down during the heat of summer.

The dining area is right off of the kitchen and is perfectly designed for guests to enjoy each other’s company over a meal. The room features the original terracotta floors and unique wood ceilings. The decor from local artists featured on the walls creates a modern and homey feeling.

His thoughtfully curated home is now filled with unique decor any design-admire will appreciate, including furniture, artwork, and statement pieces from both local artists and others from around the world hand-picked by Berk. He was very intentional with the pieces he chose for the house.“I wanted it to feel like you were in Tulum or Cabo,” says Berk. “I wanted you to come to our resort and feel like you never really need to leave.”

Guests will have access to the property’s 5,000 square feet, seven custom-designed bedrooms and eight bathrooms, plus its onsite casitas and covered balconies—all featuring modern yet cozy touches. Berk wants guests to enjoy every aspect of this property. He put in bars, a pool, jacuzzi, a bocce ball court, state-of-the-art theater room, and yoga and meditation areas for guests to fully immerse themselves in while thriving in the idyllic, luxurious desert landscape.

The outdoor bar makes this the perfect party house.
