BMW arrives at CES 2022 with a splash, debuting its all-electric iX bathed in a color changing paint. the sidewalk demonstration was captured by onlookers and shared on social media — showing the car fluidly transform from dark grey to white, seemingly after being activated inside.
the german auto manufacturer has yet to release details about the futuristic technology, although it has confirmed that it would demonstrate ‘a technology that changes the exterior color of a vehicle with the touch of a button.’ with CES 2022 kicking off january 5th and running until the 8th, we are watching out for it!

it is so far unlikely that BMW (see more here) will offer its cars with the option of color changing paint. what’s more, it is unclear how many color options the technology is capable of expressing. car and tech companies often demonstrate such innovative systems at CES which never hit the market. for now, the dynamic paint scheme may exist only as a technical showcase.

This color changing @BMWUSA #iX is wild! It’s apparently very temperature sensitive so they have a backup in a trailer in case this one gets too hot / cold pic.twitter.com/lXG1Gw0IKY
