Black-ish Star Yara Shahidi Buys Spanish Hacienda-Influenced Home for $4.8 Million
Yara Shahidi is best known for her role as Zoey Johnson in the hit ABC sitcom Black-ish and its spinoff Grown-ish. On top of being a full-time actor and signing a deal to create her own production company, Shahidi recently graduated from Harvard University. To celebrate this achievement, she purchased herself one incredible graduation present: a $4.8 million home in a quiet neighborhood in La Cañada Flintridge, where other notable residents include Donald Glover.
Shahidi’s 5,700-square-foot Spanish-Hacienda-influenced pad was built in the late 1980s and includes four bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms. Though updated, the house still pays homage to the heritage architecture of Southern California with clay, terracotta, and colorful tile details. The entrance features a garden with hanging plants and a fountain.
Upon entering the property, you’re met with hand-carved double front doors which open into a living room with 20-foot ceilings, large french windows, and terracotta flooring. The remodeled kitchen includes stunning quartz countertops and top-notch appliances.

When you head outside, double staircases lead down to a palm tree-surrounded patio complete with a pool and sitting area with a scenic view. The one-acre lot includes terraced gardens and pathways that lead to a detached billiards room which can be renovated into an office space or art studio for Shahidi.
