Athena Calderone x Crate & Barrel: Shop Our Editors’ Picks

[ad_1]

A lot of design collaborations cross our inboxes every day (have you read The Drop List yet?), but once in a while, we have to pause when forces combine to really blow our minds. Interior superstar Athena Calderone’s recent collection with Crate & Barrel is once such an instance. For those already familiar with the EyeSwoon founder’s sensibilities, we think you’ll be just as rapt as we were.

For this special collaboration, Athena worked with materials and aesthetics that most people probably recognize, but she added a refined touch in ways that you wouldn’t expect. “It’s about smashing together different ideas and eras,” she told AD features director Sam Cochran in an exclusive for the latest issue of the magazine. For those new to the designer’s refined and nearly all-neutral style, we picked a few of our favorite pieces that will really make your eyes swoon. (Sorry, we couldn’t resist!)

Solido Crossbase Oak Wood Floor Lamp with White Shade

“You already know that I have a thing for lamps, but I wouldn’t pass up on this one if I had the chance. Between the oak base with distressed knotty oak finish and linen shade, it’s the perfect combination of every micro-trend you’ve probably been too hesitant to try at home because you’re on a budget.”

Ceremonie Green Mohair Dining Chair

“Do I need another chair? Nope! Do I want to give this one a try? Absolutely! I still have mixed feelings about bouclé, but this green mohair is making some serious points.”

Noyau Marble Taper Candle Holders

“If you think you already have too many candle holders, please make an exception for this set of marble geometric sculptures. Spark your fire and bask in the glow of luxe lighting.”

Rachel Fletcher, senior commerce editor

Angolare 3-Piece Sectional Sofa

“I swore I’d never fall in love with a velvet sofa again, but here I am gaga over this velvet sectional. In my defense, the cool and vegetal shade is about a million times upgraded from the ubiquitous millennial pink velvet that swore me off in the first place. Alas, never say never.”

Canali Travertine Square Planters

“Travertine FTW. I’m always on the lookout for a sophisticated planter, and this set fully fits the bill.”

L’Union Black Metal Arc Floor Lamp with Rattan Shade

“Normally, wrought iron can miss me. Athena makes it dramatic, modern, and just a little bit of weird.”

Audrey Lee, commerce editor

La Strana Concrete Tripod Side Table

“A sculptural side table is a small but impactful way to elevate your space. Athena’s version is a textured design that’s neutral enough to blend in with your existing decor and perfect for displaying your favorite lamp or a statement vase.”

Rosa Alabaster Cheese Knives, Set of 3

“These Alabaster handle cheese knives are just the thing to make cutting your favorite manchegos, aged cheddars, and creamy camemberts feel ultra-luxe. After all, there’s never a bad time for charcuterie.”

A Coste Etched Wine Glasses

“Achieving the Gatsby-esque Pinterest tablescape of your dreams for your next dinner party is easy with this delicate drink-ware set. Even though each glass is available to purchase individually, we think you’ll want the full collection to toast during those extra-special moments with loved ones.”
