The jurors were especially impressed by the diversity, ingenuity and quality of this year’s submissions. Jason Pugh AIA, AICP, NOMA, LEED AP, Principal at Gensler, commented: “The quality of the work featured this year was both astounding and inspiring. Expressional use of light, color and materiality were brilliantly displayed, and I was particularly impressed with projects that managed to successfully balance the critical regiments of various programs seamlessly against existing surrounding context and communities.”
In its 10th season, the A+Awards received over 5,000 entries from 100+ countries, including a plethora of innovative projects seeking to address the complex challenges facing the world today — from climate change and the COVID 19 pandemic to urbanization and economic inequity. Notable Jurors included Julie Eizenberg FAIA, FRAIA (Founding Principal, Koning Eizenberg Architecture), Jasmit Singh Rangr (President and Founder, Rangr Studio), Germane Barnes (Principal, Studio Barnes), Suchi Reddy (Principal, Reddymade), Yoko Choy (China editor, Wallpaper* magazine), and many more.
A Jury-selected Winner and a Popular Choice Winner were awarded in each of the 117 categories, with over 400,000 votes cast by the voting public.
“The winners of this year’s A+Awards not only form a wonderful exhibition of design innovation, but also powerfully demonstrate architects’ enduring value to society,” remarked Paul Keskeys, Editor in Chief, Architizer. “During these unprecedented times, firms across the globe are responding to big challenges with big ideas, continually striving to reimagine sustainable design, health-conscious architecture and socially responsible construction.”
