After receiving her interior design degree from the University of Texas Austin School of Architecture in 2001, Burke began her career in San Francisco. Over the next 10 years, she cultivated her signature style working alongside award-winning designers including Orlando Diaz-Azcuy, Michael Hsu, and AD100 listees Nicole Hollis and Marmol Radziner. In 2013, Burke established her own firm in Austin, earning some of the industry’s highest accolades while transforming interior spaces as well as the daily lives of her clients. The studio has projects across the United States, with a primary focus in Austin.

This new build in Austin’s Bouldin neighborhood was designed by SLIC Design for a client whose upbringing in Argentina and Japan influenced the home’s palette.

This collaborative group of Austin interior designers works hard to create unique spaces that support their clients’ lifestyles. Focusing on modern design, SLIC Design strives to bring soul and personality to minimal spaces, with a client’s story and purpose serving as the heart of the project. The studio’s broad range of services includes material specification, furniture and art procurement, styling, and custom furniture design.

In this kitchen, SLIC Design used a select number of materials in dramatic ways to create a clean space with a masculine undertone.

Matthew Williams

SLIC Design moves through projects with an organized and systematic approach. The firm is also committed to the process of collaboration, working closely with the architecture and building team to execute each detail for the project. The studio’s favorite projects are those in which its members are involved from the very beginning, where they are able to select each finish in the home and curate all details to create a final product that is both thoughtful and original.
